Knees - still pissy. The one I blew out running down Mt. Monadnock* won't let go enough to stop aching. It feels like it really really needs to pop and it won't. Any sort of up-down work feels like a pin being driven right under the knee cap. Volleyball tonight will be an exercise in advil and teeth gritting, I fear.

Horse - spent most of my last lesson trying to compensate for said pissy knee. Marty has been trying to teach me how to hold Tisa up in the canter with my inside leg. Let me tell you, that frickin HURTS when you can barely make it up a flight of stairs. Tisa, though, is still the most clever pony on the eastern seaboard. Trust me, she's told me so herself.

Work - is work. Nothing to see hear. Move along.

Studio - going well. We seem to be able to help one another without anyone getting defensive. My fears over this experiment are slowly easing.

Art - still working on that damnable red dragon painting. I'm SOOO close to being done. I just have some claws and the wings to finish up. This weekend, I swear it. Haven't touched either of the other two paintings. Other than that, I've done a couple more ink pieces. I've gone more towards the unseelie side of things as I've gotten tired of cute, fuzzy fae. I'll have to remember to bring them in and put them up after the holidays.

Home - still haven't gotten all of the leaves raked up. Sunday I made homemade bread for the first time in a long while. The Boy and I ate way too much of it and spent most of the evening laying around holding our aching tummies. It was good.

* - when I first got here, some friends and I decided to try racing up Mt. Monadnock one fine summer day. Once we all got to the top, we decided to race back down it. Yes, we were young and stupid and fairly convinced that we were invincible. The knee went pop about 3/4 of the way down and the guys ended up carrying my ass the rest of the way. Insert cruches and therapy. That knee has never been quite right since.

Your knee sounds like how mine used to be. Is it swollen with fluid? I had my knee drained a few times...once nearly 80cc of fluid (that's 8 vials) came out. Cortizone a few times did the trick, and it's been better since. It might be worth seeing a rheumatologist, if you don't yet know the cause. (Note that if you have an HMO, your PCP will probably refer you first to someone like an orthopedic surgeon, since they're usually more available than rheumatologists, who, at least around here, seem to occupy an upper echelon amongst physicians.)

It does swell up after too much abuse but the swelling normally goes down within a few days. Its not swollen now.

I figure the cause is just the abuse I put it through last week. I really haven't laid off of it long enough for it to properly recover. I'm pretty sure if I just stopped riding & volleyball & motocycling for more than a day or two at a time, it would go back to normal.

I really should just take a week off and sit around painting. The snowboarding season will be starting soon and that's hell on my knees the first couple days. I don't need to be starting with a handicap from the get go.
