Okay, actually I'm going to MIT Optical and I'm getting glasses ...
Yep, I've finally have managed to screw over my eyes with the constant abuse I put them through. The doctor says its pretty mild and has given me a prescription for glorified reading glasses, which I'm to use while, well, reading. And coding and painting ... basically anything that involves focusing 4 feet or closer for long periods of time. My left eye is worse off than the right so I can't just get reading glasses. I have to actually buy real ones. She also says that the differences between the eyes explain why my post-migraine vision problems are happening. Having one eye focus a couple feet behind the other is par for the course if the eyes don't match to begin with and the muscles are exhausted.
On one hand, I don't really like the idea that my eyes are crapping out. On the other, its reassuring to know that I wasn't imagining things. It was also pretty neat to have my head in the "find the prescription" machine and suddenly have my eyes relax and everything go nice and clear. When she started to take the machine away, I was like "nononono I LIKE that one".
Downside, current eyeglass styles SUCK! If I wanted something square on my face, I'd wear safety goggles. I also have really wide set eyes that do not go with all those cute little half frame glasses. The outer corners of my eyes stuck out past most of the lenses. I gave up looking for something stylish and settled for "not terrible".
Oh well, its not like I'm going to be wearing them all that much.
