So I'm at work today while the rest of the civilized country sits at home and watches the Olympics. I fly out to Albuquerque here at 1, so I figured I might as well make a day of it. Its very quiet here, though.

On the up side, Boskone did much better for me than I expected. Don't get me wrong, I always do better at Boskone than at Arisia. Different crowd, different stage of life. Most of Boskone's patrons are older literary geeks who don't think much of dropping a couple hundred to hear George R.R. Martin speek. Arisia, younger college or just past it geeks who are mainly there for the party and the skimpy outfits. So Boskone in general has much better art sales. I know, I spend lots of time talking to the art show staff and the same people work both cons. I normally sell one or two originals and a couple prints at Boskone. This year, I hung 12 pieces and sold 8 of them ... including 4 originals. Even if everything went at minimum bid, thats still going to be a nice tidy check when it arrives.

So Ember, Cobalt & Rust, Fox Fairy and Death from Above all have real homes now.

[profile] es5f, you waited too long, the bird in the hand has escaped.

Time to hammer out a couple little ones since the big dragon isn't going to be done for awhile. I also sold the last set of Tea with Toad prints. I'm kicking myself for not making that a larger run but I didn't realize it'd be so popular. None of those prints EVER came home from a show and at ComicCon, they went for ~$25.00 a piece ... $50 for two 5 x 7 prints. Insane but its insanity that gives me money. I really need to do something similar and make the run of prints much bigger. Unfortunately, morbid funny is hard. Hell, funny is hard. Morbid is pretty easy, actually.

I know nothing of Boskone, but being an older literary geek, perhaps I should...
