they FUCK you at the drive through
Apr. 2nd, 2004 08:51 pmMy life just made an abrupt about face. A month ago we were house hunting, planning to spend at least another 5 years here, both our jobs were secure and our lives fairly stable. No more.
Today Sun announced that they were laying off 3300 employies AND scrapping the Boy's project. This is a 6 year, billion dollar piece of work and they just threw it out the window. The Boy's group...gone. Some of them will have the privilege of applying for new jobs at Sun. Most of them are just fucked. The Boy is of the opinion that even if he is amoung the "lucky", he really doesn't want to stay there anyways and I can't blame him. He's been working like a mad man for the last 6 months, putting 12 hour days and burning himself out, all for what? For them to throw all that hard work out right as its ready to go into production. Fucking rat bastards.
So now we get to decide what we want to do. Stay here and try to find a new job for the Boy or head to points less populated. While I like my job, I'm more than willing to get the hell out of Boston. I'm tired of not being able to afford a house that is worth having and spending so much of my pay check on basic necessities. I make good money but you wouldn't be able to tell it by looking at where I am in life. I'm tired of this city and how it seems to be draining me dry.
So anyways, anyone out there know of a decent electrical engineering type job opening that could use an amazingly bright and hard working individual, let me or the Boy know. If its near somewhere where I can do autonomous systems research, all the better. San Fran, Houston and DC need not apply.
