After all that gorgeous weather on Saturday*, we decided to get together with all our motocycle riding friends and spend Sunday terrorizing Wachusette. Got up bright and early, ignored the slight drizzle and dense fog, and headed out on the theory that the fog would burn off by mid-day and we'd have another wonderful autumn day like the weatherman promised. Those of you local are laughing your asses off at this point. That fog not only didn't burn off, it intensified to the wet sponge level. Even though it stayed pretty warm, riding for 3+ hours in the wet and yuck is just a grueling cold experience. I insisted we layer up** with polypros but we still got soaked through and frozen. Upon returning home, I stayed in the hot shower until the water heater gave out and then hid under a down comforter for another hour and I'm STILL cold. My body is warm but my mind is insisting that it's 10 degrees in here and I need more layers. Oh well.

* - which I spent riding my pony in the morning and then raking leaves the rest of the day. All of the rest of the day. My arms and shoulders just aren't ready for this yet. Of course, after all the wind and rain last night, the yard looks like it hasn't been touched.

** - Boy said it was warm and I was being silly. I said its easier to cool down than warm up when riding a motocycle and we should come prepared. Eventually he agreed and thanked me for it later. Despite the wonders of modern materials, we still weren't prepared enough.
