Yay
Weekends are good for you.
Saturday was mostly spent up at the farm.

We've been trying to get up on Sage for about 2 weeks now. Saturday we managed to do it. Boy got on him while I led him around. Sage has been pretty relaxed about us climbing all over him and leaning on him and putting weight onto the stirrups and stuff. He couldn't care less about having a saddle on. He just doesn't like it when the Boy actually sat down on him. Boy got bucked off last week and hurt his knee.

This week, I put a chain on Sage to keep his mind on me and to give us more brakes. After a bit of bouncing around, he settled down and just did the what I asked him to. I was trying to get him to do groundwork stuff to get his mind off of the person on his back. It worked. Eventually he didn't care what the Boy was doing up there. He didn't even shy away when the Boy hopped off.

Afterwards we took Majic and Kavort out to the meadow. I've renamed Kavort to Mr. Fizzlebutt. We spooked at rocks, we spooked at trees, we spooked at butterflies, we even ran away from a particularly vicious chipmunk. But I rode him in the woods in the wind and all through the meadow and he eventually settled down and stopped arching his neck and jumping away from every little noise.

Boy and Majic seem to be getting along, although Boy has all the same problems I did with keeping Majic slow. She's just so happy to be out and wants to run and play. Apparently she jumped a 4 ft. high section of the fencing around her paddock not once, but three times last week, all in one day. I wish she didn't have a leg injury or I would be taking her over everything that stood still...

Cute horse thing of the week. Sage is still very nippy and is always getting into trouble for trying to bite people. He likes to sneak up on you, grab a piece of clothing and RIIIIIP it, then run away. Needless to say, we are not amused and have been correcting him every time he tries it.

Saturday, he had his head leaned up against Boy's lower leg and was very slowly, very carefully trying to work the buckle piece of the Boy's chaps into his mouth. Once he got it, he stood there tugging lightly and chewing it. He had his eyes rolled up so he could watch the Boy's face the entire time and you could tell he was thinking "look, I'm not biting, I'm not biting, its not really part of you, I'm just chewing on it, see...?" It was incredibly cute watching a 1,000+ pound animal try to pull that off...

Sunday was cleaning day. Boy did laundry while I scrubbed and buffed and swept. Both the Wagon and the ZOOoomobile are much cleaner now.

We then cooked a roast chicken and all the fixings and had friends over for dinner. It was a good night. I tried to make baked stuffed apples for dessert but two of the six exploded in the oven. I'm not sure why...I mean, they were cored and loosely stuffed with raisins and brownsugar and spices. They had plenty of room to expand and release. They shouldn't have went *pop*. Still, they were yummy, all warm and spicy with vanilla icecream on top, even if I do have an oven to clean now. hmmmmm

Man. Your weekend was so much more fun-filled than mine...
(so says the little Morlock hunched over her sewing machine)

(Her ABSOLUTELY BUTT-KICKING sewing machine that her mate got 'er.
I mean, the thing is all *quiet*! And it does BUTTON HOLES!!!)
Yeah. My very first *real* sewing machine. Makes me regret not getting one
sooner - then I wouldn't have had to use the noisy little two-speed thing for
four Jedi, one Amidala, one Ryoko, three OZ uniforms, one D, probably something
I can't remember, one wedding dress,
and halfway through one utterly hideous 70's western shirt...

Sorry. Had to crow. The old machine was like using a spoon to cut butter.
This one is like using a turbo-Ginsu...

TOY!!!!
Sometimes I think I should update my machine from my mom's singer (which is older than I am) to a younger, sexier machine. One that might make button holes without you needing to do 50 adjustments during the process.

heh
it slices, it dices, it makes frenchfries in three different...woops!
(bonus to any non-leslie type person who recognises that)
