I hate clothes shopping
Oct. 17th, 2002 11:06 amOkay, that's not quite true. I hate practical clothes shopping. I love going in with a friend or two and trying on gowns and spiffy costumes and stuff that I'll never get to wear.
I hate going in looking for daily wear and socks and stuff. I really really hate jeans shopping. Half the time, I get men's jeans just because I know exactly what size I wear in men's and there's none of this wishy washy sizing business. What the hell does "size 10" mean, anyways?!?!
On the down side, men's hips are the same size as their waists and to get men's jeans that fit my hips, I have enough room in the waist to put three of mine.
Because of my dislike for jeans shopping, I put it off as long as I can. And that limit was reached recently, when I realized I was down to two pair of "decent" jeans and one pair of horse pants that are quickly ripping out. So I spent my monday holiday pants shopping. I didn't want to give in too quickly and just buy men's pants. That would show weakness. I eventually found two pair of jean like things to buy. One was a pair of size 12 normal jeans. The other was a pair of size 8 grey things that are about the same material as standard jeans but not quite. So I wear size 8 and size 12? Okay, sure. The real kicker is that both pair were by the same company. Did I mention I hate women's clothing sizes?
On the down side, after one wearing, the size 12 have become very loose and baggy and I could probably get a least another half waist into them, if not a full one. Hopefully they shrink up again after a washing. But hey, I have pants!
