Update of current events -

Little Red Wagon - spent all day Wednesday getting its breaks worked on. They are now super tight and there is no annoying "hey, I don't feel like releasing, how 'bout we squeel down the road as I drag my tire" feelings coming from the front end. She's currently getting her transmission worked on so hopefully the over drive/shifting problem will be gone by the weekend.

Amusing side note, I found out the cars in MA can pass inspection even when the back bumper is shattered. I have proof. Its on the Wagon's windshield.

Carpet Sharks - Both have their vacinations finished for the year. Midori didn't even bite the vet when she got her rabies shot this time.

Tira goes in to see a ferret specialist at Tufts Animal Hospital on Saturday. I have a list this long of what I need to bring with me, including a photo of where her cage is kept and samples of her food and treats. Need to stop off at the normal vets and get her tests and stuff. Here's hoping.

I got home last night with a message on my answering machine from R saying that Ethelred, one of his ferrets, was dying. She wasn't moving, barely breathing, only lifting her head to cough sometimes. He sounded pretty shook up. She has had cancer since he got her but still, its hard to sit there helpless while something you care about dies. I hope he's doing okay.

Farm - went riding last night. Majic must have eaten her Wheaties or something. I spent the entire time fighting with her to keep her from running away with me. Normally she's a complete lady, if a chicken, but last night I was pretty sure I was going to end up meeting the ground on personal terms. It could have been any number of things that caused it. I couldn't find her bridle and had to make do with random pieces put together, including a nose band that didn't fit and an strange bit. I think that bridle had a good deal less brakes than I'm used to and the noseband being loose made it possible for her to open up her mouth and avoid the bit when I pulled back. She also had gotten shoes on her front feet recently, including a wedge pad on the foot with the bone splint. Think sneakers for horses. Normally she's a bit stiff and slow on that leg when we start but last night she was prancing around from the get go. Her owner had also been talking about upping her grain, since she's lost a bit of weight. I think she just lost muscle, since she's no longer in training 6 days a week but hey, not my call. Any one of those could have made her hyper horse, let alone all of them together. I left her gallop at one point, thinking I could run it out of her system. Bad idea. I had to stear her into a tree to get her to stop. Even that didn't work like I had planned. I figured she'd slam on the breaks. Nope, she dodged at the last minute. Very agile is Majic. But at least it slowed her down enough that I could force a tight turn to stop her. Boy looked terrified. He said he was wondering whether or not he had to try to chase us down. He was pretty sure we weren't stopping anytime soon. Once we got back to the farm, I took her into the riding ring, figuring a refresher lesson in manners was in order and maybe I could get more of her attention in a boring old ring. Nope. Still had to fight her to keep her from running away. And running her into the fencing to stop is not a good idea. She was completely happy with the idea of going over that fence. We didn't but she wanted to. I finally got her to walk around the ring once and called it a night.

Amusingly enough, Boy had almost no trouble with Joe last night. Normally Joe is a stubborn son of a bitch when it comes to doing what his rider wants when he wants something else. After the initial "You ARE going to let me eat this grass!" fight, he was great. Definitely come a long way from the horse that used to rear every time you ask him to move forward when he didn't want to. When he's being bad now, he normally just starts backing up, which is funny, since we used to make him back up as a punishment for rearing. Boy does really well on him. Not that I have a thing for guys who ride or anything. Nope. Not me.

Okay, more than enough update.
Tonight, climbing!

I still haven't figured out what kind of car you have! and I assume this means you didn't make it back to the junkyard? I looked for you when I was there (what, 2 weeks ago?) but I didn't see you... I successfully acquired a fender and headlight tho :)

Nah, planning on going this weekend to exchange the bumper. I drive a completely non-sexy old ford wagon. Its sole redeeming features are
a) Its engine is as simple as they get. Assuming I have the time, I am able to do all the work myself without 8 billion tools.
b)I can do anything to it and it won't look any worse.

The ZOooomobile more than makes up for the lack of sex appeal from my car, though. Its a black subaru WRX. Not a big fan of the bug look but speed can redeem all manner of flaws.
