that a cafeteria feeding 500+ adults would be better run than your highschool cafeteria was. You'd think that those shitty tricks involving feeding you yesterday's leftovers today wouldn't happen. You'd be wrong.

Yesterday's grill special - cheesesteak hogie
Today's grill special - sausage and cheese calzone

Look fairly different, right? Shouldn't be too hard to get them right ... except my calzone was stuffed with with cheesesteak meat, clear down to the pepper and onions. No sausage or cheese in sight. Doesn't help that the lab's cheesesteak meat is 90% fat and completely disgusting.

I was polite, I asked if there were two types of calzones, there weren't. No, drowning the whole thing in marinara sauce will not make me want to eat it and leave you alone. Giving me attitude when I point out that steak != sausage and cheese would be nice does not help either. And that little snitty head toss when I asked for my money back? The "you've already cut into it, we can't take it back" excuse? Downright pathetic. At least I got to see two others get up and complain after I dumped the bastard thing in the trash can at your feet and walked out.

I could understand if the food was cheap but they're charging the same as any local eatery barring the Blue Room($$$), they should be able to get they're fucking menu right and they should not be passing off yesterday's leftovers.

*sigh*
so now I'm angry, hungry and out $6. That's what I get for trying to avoid going outside to find real food.
Bastards! I love my job but I fucking HATE our cafeteria.

I'd offer you something from my paranoid little lunchbox, but... well... you know.

ew. catefetias are evil. I am so happy I discovered a nice little roach coach that pulls up outside one of the nearby buildings. now I can get good food AND exercise by walking to it.

It's not just your cafeteria

The meats used in the soups at our cafeteria tend to suspiciously be the same as the main entrees the day before. I believe this began after they outsourced our food service to some food-specializing entity, but I'm not sure I'd put money on that. It could well have been going on before, too.

When I worked at Freightliner for summer '95, the food they had there was actually decent. I don't recall who ran it though. For some reason I keep thinking "Mariott" (who sucked on the CMU campus, as I recall), but I could easily be wrong.

same problem at Compaq/Intel. i heard similar things about outsourcing - and what's more, at our cafeteria, since the food is so bad people stopped going, which means less profits, which means they have to increase the prices!!

the intel cafeteria at folsom was ok, because it was actually a food court, similar to in the university center. not great, at all, like mall quality. but that's still a step up.

one week, an entire week, i remember being able to trace some dish through the foods. it spent two days as a main course, then it ended up in a soup (beef and broccoli maybe?) then another soup, then another soup, geting more diluted as the week went on.

*sigh*
