More updates
May. 26th, 2004 10:32 amHouse - I suck at waiting. Tomorrow we go with the inspector and find out what all is wrong and right with the place. I want to know now. *sigh*
Work - My proposal has gone from 11th out of 30 (only 7 get funded) to 3rd back up to 10...all in less than 6 hours. I'm to the point where I don't want to hear about it anymore. Once they actually give me money or give me the refusal, then I'll care again.
Painting - My hydraulic gecko is fairly close to being done. He was just waiting for the mermaid to get finished. Lots of cement and wet moldy bark and a pair of headlamp eyes. Now to just not screw it up.
Horse - I went up to the farm last night and Tisa is feeling MUCH better. She was able to hold all four feet up with no problem. Digging my fingers in along her spine only got a minor flinch at one spot. Last Saturday just running a soft brush anywhere along her spine made her bow down 4 inches. She's still on horse asprin and muscle relaxers and will be until tomorrow. After that, I'm getting a chiropractor in to make sure everything is in line. I won't be riding her until she's been off the drugs a few days and still acting okay. Still, I'm very relieved. Even if something is still wrong, at least she's not in constant pain any more.
I tried loading Tequila on the trailer. This is the first time since he got to the barn ~2 years ago that anyone's tried to put him on a trailer. As the barn's breeding stallion, he doesn't get out much. He's either in his dirt paddock with a gelding across the fence to talk to or he's in the ring being worked by yours truely or he's in the breeding shed. I think this is the first time in a good year that he's seen something beside his paddock, the ring and the path between the two.
Since there were three horses in the ring, I couldn't work him before hand and get the energy edge off. Lets just say it was interesting. He couldn't figure out what to do first but listening to me wasn't it. He'd try to roll, then he'd start pawing and stretching out to the point he was almost falling over. Then he'd try to spring up in the air and go into the alert, protector stallion stance, only he'd be so stretched out that he'd just kind of spasm around and trip. It was hilarious. He'd be walking nicely with me, the he'd notice something new and we'd spin 5 minutes going through the "I want to roll, no paw, nogoseetheotherhorses, what'sthat?!?!AHHHHHH *SPROING*" cycle. I wish we'd gotten pictures.
We did end up getting all four feet up the ramp and into the trailer. All in all, it was better than I expected. 1 real rearing fit when I wouldn't let him eat grass, 2 big bucks and lots of pawing/being silly. Afterwards I took him out to the field and left him eat while I fiddled with his ears and rubbed his legs and generally made a pest of myself (he HATES having his ears touched). Apparently grass is more important than running away from ear rubs. Good to know. Saturday we try again.
