Getting all the monsters together as one big, bouncing family has been going better than I expected. The kittens (Jago and Banichi) are intrigued but frighted of the ferrets. Neither ferret is exhibiting the typical "enemy in territory" response, which was our worse case scenario. Ferrets fight vicious and go for the throat when they think something is an enemy. I'm pretty sure the two of them could take out the kittens. Tira is scared of them. Midori is utterly unimpressed.

For the most part, the kittens stalk up to the ferrets when their backs are turned, bap them in the butt without claws and run away when the ferrets turn to face them. Unfortunately, Tira is frightened of them and runs if she sees them coming. That is bringing out a bit of a predator response in Banichi (butt wiggling, pouncing but not connecting, swatting at her head). On the other hand, he tried the same tricks with Midori and she floofed herself up huge and chased him out of the room. He hasn't tried thwapping her since and keeps a good 2 feet between himself and her.

We're only doing short introductions for now (about 20 minutes) and both sets get their time out to play by themselves. We may not be able to trust them unsupervised together until the kittens grow out of the "I'll pounce anything that moves!" stage but that's okay.

Litter training seems to be going okay. No more accidents yet. We need to pick up another big litter box. The ferret boxes are going to be too small once the kittens get their full size.
