Last night, around 4:45, a migrain hit without any warning. Very rude, that one. Normally I get about 10 minutes of visual auras before the actual pain sets in. This means I see spots and weird wavey lines and have to sit there going "what the fuck?" until it occures to me that a migrain is on the way. Traditionally, as the pain sets in, the spots/lines expand until a good portion of my vision is obscured and the vertigo and nauseua join the party. Last night, none of that. One minute, I'm fine, the next, I'm in severe pain, my stomach is doing the pre-barf dance and I notice that the left side of my vision is messed up. Spent most of last night nursing the damn thing. I wonder where my warning system went.
Funny thing is, this morning, my vision is still fucked. I don't have the lines or spots but everything is hazy on the left side. Its like that eye is seeing the world about a foot further back than the right eye. Very distracting and it made driving and adventure.
Its beginning to worry me. I don't get migrains like I used to. They used to show up 2 or 3 times a month, floor me for a few hours and then go away like nothing ever happened. Now they are much rarer but seem to hold on for days afterwards. The last one I can remember was last Thanksgiving and that one lasted for 8 full hours before it backed off and it left lingering vision problems as well. Bonzo no like.

Just curious, are you taking Claritin (or its generic)? It's has some nasty side effects, including migraines. I never had one until I took Claritin regularly and, one I stopped, haven't had one again.

Date: 2004-10-06 08:19 am (UTC)Nope, the only thing I take is BCPs and I've had the migrains long before I started those. I had a concussion and spinal injury when I was a teenage. The migrains started when that happened and come back whenever I ignore my chiropractor for too long.
