they give you a chainsaw for Christmas. Yes, a chainsaw. And a 3 hour refresher course on the proper way to hack thing up into itty bitty pieces. Soon I will go out back of my property and hack down that damn hawthorn bush.

Mom also sent me home with a bucket full of random plants. Comfrey, feverfew, mints of all types and varieties, just random things out of her herb gardens. No catnip, though. I have cats, I should have catnip.

The trip home was both long and not long enough. The drives to and from Mt. Union were hellish, 10+ hours each. Normally we can do the trip in 8. Thanksgiving day itself was wonderful. My mother rented a hall to hold thanksgiving dinner in and the Boy and I spent most of Thursday morning mashing potatoes for the feast. Almost all of my immediate family showed up. That drastically cut down on the amount of people I had to go visit on Friday and Saturday.

My brother and his family are all doing well. Jack got another dog to keep Cody company. Cody is the australian sheperd I bought for his family ~3 years ago. The new pup is of the "so dumb he's happy" variety but they're hoping he'll grow out of it. He's a border collie, blue heeler, ausie cross and he's about a year old now. You'd think with parents like that and being a cross, he'd be intelligent but, as Gail says, the lights are on but nobody is home.

Both paintings I took home went over well. One was the portrait of my parents, the other was the picture of my brother's kids I did a year ago. Unfortunately, giving out paintings to some family seemed to inspire some of the others to put in "requests" of their own. I don't think my step-sister took it to well when I responded to her "I want a picture of the boys doing this, its got to be this big and mainly blue so it matches the couch" with "okay, that'll be $$$". She looked downright insulted. Oh well, she'll get over it. You can be damn sure she charges the family when she does cleaning for them (she runs an office cleaning business). There is a difference between painting a gift that was not asked for and doing a commission where every little detail is spelled out and that difference involves cash. Needless to say, I will not be doing a painting of those two nephews anytime soon.

The cats were happy to see us come home. Banichi refused to let me sleep all Sunday night but that was okay. I took Monday off to recover. I ended up spending all morning cleaning the house, afternoon up at the barn and evening vegetating and making dinner for the Boy. The Boy had to work due to deadlines.

I'm going to be hard to reach this month.

Current travel plan:
Abluquerque - Dec. 5th to 11th
Las Vegas - Dec. 13th to 15th

Rumor has it I may be flying to Albuquerque as early as tomorrow morning. I'll find out tonight.

Actually, what I'd really like is a copy of some Cruxshadow's music. I don't have a single one of thier CDs and this makes me sad.

For some reason I think of Albuquerque as close, but it is like 6 hours away.

They gonna have you working through the weekends?

I get there late on Sunday (assuming I don't go earlier) and leave early on Saturday. If I do leave tonight or tomorrow, then yes, I'll be working the weekend.
