the good part of this weekend
Apr. 25th, 2005 10:10 amFriday I played hookie and went shopping. I bought herbs and raspberry canes and pansies. I then planted everything but the raspberries. I don't know where they are going yet. I also planted various seeds. I'm out of garden though. Time to dig up more roots and expand my beds.
The pansies were gone by Sunday. Fucking deer. I saw them doing it and they didn't even MOVE when I came out on the porch to swear at them. If I hadn't been wearing my slippers, I would have chased them with a broom, just for spite.
Those bastards also chewed off my little lilac bush. What the hell, there's a HUGE bush not 20 yards from the little one that has all sorts of tender sprouts and leaves on it. You think they ate that one? NOOoooo...they ate the poor little one that had maybe a dozen leaves on it. Bastages.
Saturday, it rained. And rained. And rained some more. The Boy and I worked on the living room most of the day. We've got most of the walls mostly plastered. Soon we will get to paint them.
Sunday, it rained and I painted. I have two paintings going now, one DFW (default fantasy woman) and one weird little dude ala Thinking Tree. Hopefully I'll get both of them done this week.
It eventually stopped raining and got nice out, so the Boy and I went for a 2 hour hike in the Great Farm State Forest. Its both a forest and a dairy farm, all rolled into one state grant. Very nice trails and they have homemade icecream made right there at the farm. You can also watch them milk the cows and go pet random farm animals. Of course, dairy farms aren't the most wonderful smelling places in the world but the icecream is GREAT! Afterwards, I mowed the lawn and made hot and sour soup. It was a pretty good weekend, minus the bad parts.
