Today is one of those cold, wet rainy days that makes me yearn for Pittsburgh, Shenely Park, 2 am, sometime back in the late 90s.
I loved the rain back then.
Every time the skies opened up, I'd be out walking in it. I'd come home soaked to the skin, shivering and wonderfully content. I'd get up in the wee hours of the morning and go meander around the golf course or Flagstaff hill. I'd wander the trails around Panther Hollow Pond, secure in the knowledge that no one else was dumb enough to be out in that weather. Pittsburgh is a notoriously wet city. It rains constantly and if its not raining, its snowing or Pittsburghing or sleeting or all four at once.
Somewhere along the lines I became a little to responsible. I don't get up in the middle of the night to go walking since I have to get up in the morning. I don't leave my office now because I have work to do. Now the rain is just an inconvience, something thats going to make my commute home a nightmare.
I can't remember the last time I just went wandering in the wet and grey.
