I'm so easy to make happy
May. 25th, 2006 10:49 amOr at least, that's what the Boy tells me.
Most recent cause of happiness?
New socks.
Lovely, fuzzy, warm socks with no chew spots, no holes in the toes/heels, no ragged edges up at the top, no kibble hidden in them. People who don't have pet ferrets just don't understand or appreciate undefiled socks properly. They are rare and fleeting footwear and must be enjoyed while they last. Which isn't long. As soon as I take them off for the night after their first wearing, Tira will have them and then they are gone. At best, they are used as kibble storage units. At worst, well ... it ain't pretty, what she can do to a perfectly good sock given a few minutes alone with it.
That's okay, though . I bought LOTS of socks this time.
Also, can someone please tell me why the universe is so perverse as far as art shows go? Why is it that the shows that sit on my art for months, refuse to answer emails, and are generally more hassle than they are worth ... end up not being more hassle than they are worth?
ConnCon, which was way back in the beginning of March, FINALLY sent my artwork home after I emailed every person remotely involved and threatened to drive down to the art director's house personally to pick it up. I had pretty much decided to NEVER do that convention again due to the delays and lack of communication. However, I did pretty good there. Better than expected, that's for sure. Last year, Astronomicon gave me the same problem. Months to return my art and to pay me yet enough money to make me think ... maybe? Anyways, I came home to two boxes of returned artwork last night. A couple prints, a couple originals, a couple things going at quick sale prices ... combined with the new socks, it was an excellent night.
