Spicy!

So back before Arisia, I did a commission for blk. Now blk's an amazing hair braider and she does it conventions, faires, that sort of thing. You can so see her work at Spicy Braids

Now I was working on this clear up to the last minute and its quite big, so I never go around to scanning it. Luckily, blk has a digital camera and isn't afraid to use it. So everyone, here's the Spice Braids Fairy.



Entire sign. I forget how big this thing is but its pretty darn big ... maybe 22 x 30?


The original design was more horizontal based but that wasn't quite sign like enough.


And the longest, hardest most grueling part ... learning how to draw and paint braids. I swear, I have pages and pages of sketches trying to figure out how to draw braids correctly. Yes, I accepted a commission doing a sign for a braider and I didn't know how to draw braids. Lesson learned ... don't count on picking up new skills while doing a large commission. You'll get very little sleep the last few nights.

I'm absolutely in love with this painting. It's better than I had imagined it. I will be back for Arisia next year, and you are more than welcome to show your artwork in my room or at my table (wherever I end up). (of course, I know that offer didn't do you a lot of good last year, but the offer is still there if you're interested.)
