the problem with vacation
Aug. 5th, 2002 11:54 amis that G told us the wrong dates.
I had requested time off and we bought airline tickets and I finagled my schedule around to have the 3rd week of August off and G called us Saturday night to let us know that she really meant the 4th week and she's really sorry. How 'bout that run on.
I'm not upset with G. It was an honest mistake and she had requested the wrong week off too and isn't sure she can get her vacation dates changed either. I'm just disappointed.
I was really looking forward to it and I'm not sure I can still go. I think I have a prototype due that week and I cannot, CANNOT, be gone from it's demoing, since I am the sole implementor. I've sent out email to all my managers and to everyone currently involved. I feel like shit doing it, since about 5 people built their schedules around mine. Guess that's a drawback from finally getting some management responsibilities. I've gotten an okay back from one project but it wasn't the one I was worried about. So now I'm sitting here, waiting for either a veto or an okay. I don't like waiting. I'm good at it but I don't like it.
Lets not talk about the tooth pulling that is getting a flight changed on non-refundable tickets. I'm in a bad enough funk for now...
