Apparently one of the representatives sponsored a bill to allow hunting on Sundays here in the great commonwealth. She's not a hunter herself but one of her friends is and he doesn't have any time Monday - Saturday to hunt. Well, boo fucking hoo.

Dear Representative Green,

I recently found out that Rep. Gobi has filed a bill on behalf of hunters to allow hunting on Sundays. When this comes up to vote on Oct. 30th, I would ask you to remember all of the rest of us non-hunters who would like to enjoy the great outdoors during the autumn months.

During the hunting season, it is all but impossible to safely hike, horseback ride or take your dogs for a relaxing stroll in many of the state parks. While most hunters are responsible individuals, every year there are cases of domestic animals and people being injured or killed due to a hunter not identifying his target. Frankly, its not worth my life or the life of my pets just to take a leaf peeping walk. Sunday is currently the ONLY day I can safely enjoy the forest during the hunting seasons.

Please understand that I used to be a hunter and my family has a strong tradition of participating in the sport. I have nothing against the sport or the people who participate in it. I know that they provide a vital source of income to the state, much of which goes to support the public lands. I have no problem with hunters having their six days and I do my best to stay out of their way during the week. I just don't want to loose my one day to enjoy my outdoor sports.

Thank you very much for reading this,
Joleen Flasher

Her buddy could just as easily pay to use a game preserve, of which there are many in the state that allows hunting all year around. He could also, you know, take time off of work like the rest of us. But both of those cost more than bitching to your representative buddy, who then took the time on the tax payer's dime to draft this bill. Ah, well, and here I was hoping our government was trying to fix property taxes and insurance rates and public education ...

If you're a MA resident, let this lady know that some of us don't own flack jackets but still like to leaf peep. rep.annegobi@hou.state.Ma.US

Ah, I had to read past the lj-cut to figure out why you didn't like the bill. Makes much more sense now.
