You ask? Well, work has finally barred me from accessing livejournal from the company network. Seems social networking sites == trolling for dates and/or not so discrete sex and you can't have your employees getting any, not if you want them to be properly productive.

Not that I'm bitter.

Okay, I lied. I am bitter.

Who knew Jo liked the swingin' internets so much?

That said, yeah, where I work does the same, and boy fucking howdy does it suck. Because, well, productive employees read real news.

Hey, you're talking to an addict here. I'll figure out a work around eventually. Rob's comment about content for cell phones gives me an idea.

Since my job involves putting social networking site content on cell phones right now, I am required to sign up for and use all sorts of services from work, including livejournal, facebook, and myspace.

So, I guess what I'm saying is "neener, neener".

Uh, nevermind the past year and a half of business press about the place where I work.

Don't make me come over there and smack you.

Well that was what my last line we about. I mean, we've been bleeding $1 billion+ over the past year, all kinds of executives and employees fleeing the building, a spin-off of the business I'm in to keep it from dragging the rest of the company down into oblivion, waves of layoffs, and all kinds of analysis about how we don't know how to make phones anymore. Compared to that, I mean, LJ access is kind of small potatoes.

Of course, your workplace has its own charms :)

Sooooo very very bitter :-P

I actually had bookmarked an lj post describing A* search as Dijsktra's shortest path algorithm with a preconditioner. But now I can only read about it at home...

Plus I can't spend hours goofing off.
