Results - don't ask.

On the advice of people over at [livejournal.com profile] ferretlovers, I decided to bite my tongue and let them fight it out last night, assuming no blood. Things started out alright. I had put bitter apples on both of them and turned them loose in the kitchen. For the first 10 minutes or so, they mostly just wandered around and glared at one another, sometimes hissing and backing away. Eventually Tira pounced. I left it go until it was pretty obvious that Midori was trying to get away and Tira wasn't letting her. Lots of panic peeing, no pooping though. I pulled Tira off and held her while she calmed down. Boy was making over Midori at the same time.

Once they were both loose again, Midori hid under her towel and Tira ran around for awhile. She then noticed Midori's tail sticking out from under the towel and promptly went under it and attacked again. After a few moments, the fight came out of the towel and Midori broke loose. Tira kept circling her, trying to attack again and Midori kept backing up and screaming. Tira did finally get in and had Midori down when we broke them up again. Boy noticed that Midori now had scratches on the back of her neck. They weren't really bleeding at all but they did break the skin. I called it quits for the night and took care of Midori's neck while Tira ran around in the living room. Just for the record, ferrets really don't like having peroxide put on the back of their necks.

Things still seem to be getting worse. I'm going to try bathing them together again. I haven't done that since Midori stopped being the aggressor and maybe it'll work better distracting Tira than it did Midori. Tira has the worst memory of the two and will forget what she's doing in the middle of climbing something.

On the up side, I am encouraged that Midori broke away and held Tira off for awhile.

No, not those types of urges... These are more insane urges. I think I blame my mother )
