hey, where'd it go?!?
Jan. 5th, 2004 04:15 pmI had been hoping 11 days away from work would be enough rest to get me going again. It may have been but just. I could do with another 11 or so...on the up side, I have the 19th off. Go government holidays.
- We built a barn...or at least, we framed out a 12x16 shed. The Boy was quite sore and I wasn't all that happy either. Now we just need to cover it with plywood and shingle the roof and we'll be done.
- Tisa fell on me. Yep, I didn't mis-type that, my horse fell on me. I was being silly and left her gallop after not riding her for over a month, she was being silly and didn't want to stop and the results of our combined silliness involved wiping out on a patch of ice at about 30 mph. Luckily, she didn't land on me. She ended up with a bunch of cuts from the ice, I ended up with a knee the size and consistancy of a grape fruit. Both of us are better now. I need a new helmet.
- Guests who stayed awhile.
zyrain came up on the 30th to hang out a few days. Sorry you didn't get to see more of the city, Neal. Maybe you could come up sometime this summer? Boston is much nicer when its warm out and we can bully
shoebox_bird into showing us around.
georgejas and
dgr also showed up and there was much rejoicing...and spades...and pouncing.
- New Years party. Lots of people, lots of alcohol, games, giddiness, everything a new years party should be, including champagne thanks to
zyrain.
- New Years Day,
blk and
mj2q stopped in to say hi. We surprised them with a lobster lunch.
Despite being very sore from the shed building and the crashing and having a cold that lasted 5 days, it was a good vacation. I want another one. Unfortunately, my accrued vacation time doesn't seem to agree that that's a good idea. Oh well.
The art scene is coming along pretty well.
zyrain bought Dryad from me and also transported Red Masquerade back to the 'burgh for Eric. Those two events prompted me to buy a real matt cutter and to go on a framing spree. Most of my originals are now nicely matted and framed and ready to show.
So now I'm fretting about Arisia. I'll have a panel in the art show and I'm hoping to at least recoup the cost of showing, if not the cost of attending. I'm also planning to work the show a day or so to meet people and to watch art buyers in their native habitat. Nothing like a little bit of field research to round out the book learning, ya know? I'm planning on taking End of the Storm and a bunch of prints and maybe a couple little originals to round out the pricing range. Should be interesting. I also hope to show Boskone here in Febuary and Millecon in March. I'm going to try to do one show a month this year and see what happens.
