Okay, I'm pissed. As you guys know, my horse was/is/might be pregnant. At this point, I'm pretty sure she lost the foal as she is acting like her old self again and is no longer a blimp. About a month ago, we thought she had aborted but we couldn't find the remains anywhere in the pasture.

As you guys also know, my agreement with her old owner was that she would pay for any foal related costs. Carol, the old owner, also has another mare, Magic, due to deliver any time now and who is very obviously pregnant. Carol wants to get a vet out to ultrasound them both, 1: to check on Magic's developement so we have a more accurate due date and 2: to confirm Tisa lost her baby. Not a bad idea...except she wants me to pay for Tisa's ultrasound and for half the barn call. Um, no. We have a contract that states that all foal related expenses are the responsibility of the old owner. Ultrasounding to confirm pregnancy is definitely a foal related expense and therefore, NOT MY PROBLEM. Now I need to find a polite way of pointing out that if she wants it done, she's going to pay for it. She knows shes putting me in an awkward position and is hoping that I'll back down rather than raise a fuss and right now, I'm ready to tell her to shove it and move my horse elsewhere.

Argh, passive agressive bull shit like this just pisses me off.

Argh, all around... and here I am just now reading...
I hope that your response was suitably snarky, since (unless I'm mis-remembering) this isn't the first time she's tried something of the sort...
