LittleBeak: Fuzzball of Prey and Master of All He Surveys
Its not my fault. Really, its not. You see, I was looking for a reference image of a hawk and I ran across the web page of a guy who raises owls. In amoung all his other pictures were some photos of 2 week old striped owl chicks. I looked at them for a moment, pointed and started giggling wildly. Striped owl chicks are the most hilarious looking things I've ever seen. They are just a mass of fuzz with these awkward little legs and the most fearsome expression. They know they look silly and they aren't at ALL happy about it. They seem to go through life waddling around and glaring at things viciously...or as viciously as you can when your face is just big yellow eyes and fluff.
I laughed for hours after finding those pictures. When the Boy came home, I made him go look at them and he laughed for hours. I just had to paint one. This guy didn't turn out quite as fuzzy as he should have but I still like him. All I drew was the beaks and eyes and I just free handed the rest with paint. All in all, I spent about an hour painting this and about 3 laughing at my subject.
