Arisia '04
Jan. 18th, 2004 04:53 pm- didn't sell a damn thing. Nope, not even one. Then again, noone really seemed to be selling well. Even the big names didn't sell out and most of us no-names didn't get a single bid. The only thing getting constistanly bid on was the very cheap little acrylic originals. I don't know if it was because of the economy or if people just didn't want to try to take the bigger stuff home during the snow. Either way, not a good con for me. I think I'm done pouting now. Here's hoping Boskone goes better.
- bought a sympathy corset. Like sympathy sex, sympathy corsets happen for the sole purpose of making the receiver feel better. Its been a long time since I've felt as outright sexy as I did walking around the con this afternoon. Now I need to figure out other reasons to wear my corset.
That's all folks. I can't help but feel this weekend was a bust. I'm $300 lighter (corset + other stuff) and I didn't make up any of it with the art. Okay, I lied. I'm not done pouting yet.

Date: 2004-01-19 11:52 am (UTC)I'm also hoping it'll pick up soon. I keep seeing reports that the art world and the economy in general are picking up steam.
The Boskone show seems to have a different feel from Arisia, though I'm not sure I can put my finger on what it is... last year I sold decently at Arisia, and nothing at Boskone. Maybe that means you will do better :)

Date: 2004-01-19 03:56 pm (UTC)MaryAnne is a friend of mine from the 'net and still an ameture but she's doing the $25 4x6 acrylic route right now. All her paintings looked extremely similar to the point where I think she has a dragon stamp and just paints a background. Not something I'm interested in doing quite yet. Wait until I get far enough into the hole, then I'll break out the acrylics and do a painting a night for 2 weeks.
