joflasherWent riding last night for the first time in almost 2 weeks. I blame rain and sick ferrets. Didn't have all that much fun, since Majic was still being hyper horse and Joe had reverted to his stubborn self. Our fault for not working them more. Majic wasn't completely out of control this week but she was still pretty bad. We did lots and lots of circles BUT I did get a controlled canter out of her once or twice while in the meadow.
Back at the farm, I rode her in the ring for about 15 minutes, canter, trot, walk, canter, walk, trot, walk, canter, trot, walk. I also put her on a lunge line for a few rounds, just to see if she would do the same thing on her own. Yep, didn't want to stop on the line either. And she seemed thrilled to be out trotting a circle. And running a circle. And bucking a circle. I think I'll start lunging her before I ride and let her get her yahoos out without me being involved.
Now I'm sore, bruised and I have popped blisters in between my fingers from the reins. The one is really big and angry looking and hurts like a bugger. I wish I had poured peroxide on it before I left this morning. And we get to go repeat it tomorrow morning. Whee. On the up side, the town near the farm is having a strawberry festival on saturday and the only way the horses will improve is with work.
