I did surprisingling well. Out of the eight pieces I took, I sold five of them. I got multiple bids on a few, although none made it to voice auction. Then again, it took eight bids on a piece to get to voice auction, so I'm not surprised none of mine made it.

The biggest surprise is that someone bought Snagged. Yes, someone paid good money for a skewed mermaid. I met the wife of the man who bought it. Apparently they both really liked the piece. She told me it was a crime it went as cheaply as it did. Me, I was just shocked that anyone would want it hanging on their walls. Still, it shows that morbid has a market, I guess. Should have taken the dead rabbit.

Sold - Stalking, Hydraulic Peeper, Snagged, Thinking Tree, and a pring of Dryad

Brought home -
Autumn Fading
, The Rat King, and a print of End of the Storm

All in all, a good show.

Be warned, there are 3 pictures behind that cut

oh, and here are the new paintings I didn't get up earlier. I know, some of them need some cropping done. I'll get to it tonight.

The Rat King - a collaboration between myself and Nick Graves

do you have any feel for why some sold and some didn't.....?

Not really. I haven't gotten the actual bid sheets back yet, so I'm just going off of what Theresa told me. I figured that Autumn Fading didn't sell because its fricken HUGE and is pretty pricey. Not exactly an easy piece to stuff in a suitcase and go home with.

I was surprised that The Rat King didn't sell, especially considering the "oohs" and "ahhs" it was getting from the art show staff when I was hanging it up. That's okay, though, since I'm going to YaoiCon in October and it'll fit right in there.

The same guy bid on both of the hydraulic critters but I don't know if he was the winning bidder on them. I assume he was after the set. The people who bought the dead mermaid apparently are pretty big collectors and buy a wide variety of stuff.

I really like Hydraulic Peeper. Are you going to have prints made of that one? If so, I will definitely get one.

I really like your use of greenery to frame the critter and to add depth cues (with the smaller leave in the upper right). The lighting really helps the depth cues too.

I agree. Hydraulic Peeper is IMHO one of your best.

Working on it. I'll see if I can't have them ready when we come out in October. Its going to be interesting to try to color match paintings that are no longer in my possession.

Congratulations!

You're right, The Rat King will fit in well at YaoiCon :-)
