I had been hoping 11 days away from work would be enough rest to get me going again. It may have been but just. I could do with another 11 or so...on the up side, I have the 19th off. Go government holidays.

Vacation highlights )

The art scene is coming along pretty well. [profile] zyrain bought Dryad from me and also transported Red Masquerade back to the 'burgh for Eric. Those two events prompted me to buy a real matt cutter and to go on a framing spree. Most of my originals are now nicely matted and framed and ready to show.

So now I'm fretting about Arisia. I'll have a panel in the art show and I'm hoping to at least recoup the cost of showing, if not the cost of attending. I'm also planning to work the show a day or so to meet people and to watch art buyers in their native habitat. Nothing like a little bit of field research to round out the book learning, ya know? I'm planning on taking End of the Storm and a bunch of prints and maybe a couple little originals to round out the pricing range. Should be interesting. I also hope to show Boskone here in Febuary and Millecon in March. I'm going to try to do one show a month this year and see what happens.

Before forget them all, here's the haul for the year
From the Boy:
- new bridle and a carry bag for it
- tack box
-various brushes and hoof picks and general horse stuff
-a variety of watercolors I didn't have, including a cadmium red that I will undoubtably poison myself with.
- two new detail brushes of the brand I adore but don't buy myself cause I'm a cheapskate
- a copy of the Nightmare Before Christmas
- many many many games and expansions for the both of us

Gifts I got for the Boy
- a jigsaw that he's been wanting and "hinting" at for months, if you can call emailing me the web store with the lowest price and shipping "hinting".
- a set of mortising chisels
- a wood moisture movement guide
- a set of books about tuning hand tools
- some music
- a PS1 and a copy of Squares, both of which got much use this holiday season. For those of you who don't know, Squares is really Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and is the BEST game ever created for the Playstation. Really. I said so.

From Other People
Mom - electric clippers for my horse and a Sears gift card for the Boy. He bought more hand tool type stuff with it.

Leslie and Todd - a hand made stuffed ferret that my monsters promptly attacked. Silly rats were treating it like a real ferret.

Chris and George - chocolate body paint, one of the Boy's socks (post torture), and something else I can't remember.

The girls at the barn (w/ the Boy's help) - a synthetic saddle. The saddle part is real, its just the material that's synthetic. Very very light weight and it's survived every pace I know how to put it through...walk/trot/canter/gallop/crash.

Okay, that's pretty much everything I can remember.
