Spent most of the weekend with [personal profile] omnia_mutantur, [profile] wandelrust, and [personal profile] nuns. I've never really been in the same room with Bill and Kim together for any amount of time ... it was educational, to say the least. I now have half a dozen books I need to read.

Saturday afternoon, we all met up to go see MirrorMask. It is an art movie in the most literal sense of the words. I had thought it was a Gaiman story that Mckean did artwork for. After seeing it, I have to say the creative process went the other way. Lots to look at, not a lot to think about. Not what I expected from something with Gaiman's name on it. I'm not sure if I liked it or not but I'll go see it again with the Boy and find out.

Afterwards, we went to dinner and then off to see Serenity. Again, not really sure if I liked it or not. It was certainly interesting and was a good story but I felt some of the characters really weren't IN character. I sort of wish I hadn't seen the series and had come into it blank. Again, will be seeing it with the Boy so hopefully a real opinion will form. Neither of them were BAD or else I'd refuse to see them again.

Sunday, we all got together again and went apple picking out at Nashoba Valley Winery. I came home with enough apples for a pie (hmmm...pie) and a bottle of Blueberry Merlot. It was one of the few things they had that didn't sound like it was going to be a sugary sweet desert wine. I was vaguely tempted by one of the wines called Boggy Marsh but decided that since we still had those desert wines from [personal profile] dgr and [profile] georgejas visiting, it probably wasn't a good idea. Sweet wines just don't get drunk in my house.

I spent the afternoon staining the deck (until I ran out of stain), mowing the lawn, weeding my garden and generally enjoying the lovely weather while doing house stuff I'd been putting off. The Boy got home late in the evening and we sat around enjoying fresh apple pie and each other's company.

And George, not peaches. I utterly refuse. Can't it be Pie #2 or Blueberries or Strawberries or Tacos? I guess Tomatoes would be worse but Peaches is pretty damn bad. I don't like Peaches.

So the plan for this week drastically changed when one of my project managers called in and asked if I could man a booth at the Draper Tech Expo. At least its a booth for one of my projects and I'll actually know what I'm talking about with it.

If you ever wanted to know what goes on in the weirdly shaped building at Technology Square, stop by Wed. 12-4 or Thurs 9 -1. Its normally pretty interesting and they often bring things up out of the critter lab for the day. If we're lucky, the the robot tuna and the throw-bots will be out and about. I love the throw-bots. If they ever mass marketed the throw-bots, I'll have a dozen of them and terrorize the cats. Throw-bots make me happy.

I'll be at the "Dynamic, Real-Time, Autonoumous Control of Unmanned Vehicles" Booth, accourding to the fliers I was given. Funny, we just call it the Framework IR&D the rest of the year.
